As the new Sales Manager for Defence, you will have the opportunity to set and carry out the strategy in one of the fastest-growing segments in our organization.In this role, you will work closely with the regional sales teams on specific product sales and guide them through the highly complex sales process within Defence & Professional organizations. You will play a key role in developing and implementing the sales strategy for the Defence segment, including identifying target markets, customers, and partners.Based at the headquarters in Esbjerg, you will be part of the Defence Department, joining a team of 5 colleagues, and reporting to the Senior Director Global Sales.This is a unique opportunity if you are motivated by sales and sales processes, optimization, and automation, and want to work in a global organization with a strong mission to save lives.Tasks and Responsibilities

As a Sales Manager Defence, you will act as a link between the sales organization and the customer – with the overall goal of creating future sales and growth areas. This is achieved through a well-defined and well-functioning structure and collaboration internally with our subsidiaries, as well as with customers locally.In close cooperation with VIKING’s sales organization, you will contribute to building and maintaining strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers in the Defence sector, including government agencies, military organizations, and contractors.Furthermore, you will support the regional sales team of 15 colleagues in ensuring the full scope sales of all VIKING products for the Defence segment. This includes coaching the team and providing feedback on their approach towards Defence customers.Your success largely depends on your ability to understand market trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape, and provide insights and feedback to the product management and marketing teams.Depending on your background, you will handle the following:

  • Manage the sales cycle from lead to closing
  • Follow-up on ongoing projects and New Building activities
  • Facilitate pipeline meetings with sales regions
  • Monitor the market situation, competitors and product advancements
  • Participate in customer meetings and negotiations
  • Take a leading role in Tender Processes
  • Define potential, develop go-to-market approaches and implement within organization
  • Provide input for forecasting and budgets
  • Participate in and actively give input to product development
  • Represent the company at industry events and conferences

You will naturally receive a thorough introduction and sparring in existing processes to give you the best possible conditions for handling the position.Annually, approximately 40 travel days primarily within Europe are to be expected.Necessary skill set
The ideal candidate for this role is, above all, a seasoned sales professional with experience in a similar position. As a trusted advisor, your primary objective will be to drive sales and promote our expert services while increasing awareness of the VIKING Defence platform.On a personal level, you possess a commercial mindset and excel as a professional advisor, both internally and externally. You thrive on analytical work and enjoy creating structure within a well-defined sales process.Additionally, you are expected to have experience in the following areas:

  • B2B sales projects, including managing changes and driving improvements
  • Building and maintaining customer relationships within a global organization
  • Experience in the Defence, Navy, Airforce, Police sectors, or a maritime background is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Danish
